We are pleased to present the EXTRACTOR, an easy-to-install, low-cost small wind turbine, designed for cottage and rural applications. It is the first small wind turbine in the market place to offer a new level of high performance by using variable pitch rotor blades, a professional feature usually found only in large wind turbines.
Two design factors are responsible. First, the variable pitch rotor blades adjust to enable a much wider wind-speed operating range. Second, they provide continuously adjusted peak output over the entire wider wind-speed operating range. This is a differentiating advantage compared to fixed pitch turbines which exhibit peak performance at a single wind speed.
Variable pitch control also opens the door to low speed wind capture, an undervalued form of renewable energy . In the other direction, we have extended the turbine’s range upwards into high speed winds totally missed by other designs. Together, the result is superb integrated energy capture. We have defined a new level of high performance and utility in a small wind turbine.
