Airfoils GALLERY
Airfoils appeal to us more than most folks. It should be no surprise that we at APT have a lot in common with ultra light aircraft enthusiasts who put their comprehension of aeronautics and well being on the line very time they take off and land. Lift is magic and we have devoted approximately 5 years to implementing its complex behavior effectively.
Similarly, when we deal with variable pitch control mechanisms we place the highest importance on airfoil performance. That is why you will find us using one of the airfoil designs from an outstanding University of Illinois low speed airfoil program.
Dr. M. Selig oversaw this program that developed a set of high performance airfoils optimized for small wind turbine use. We use the highest performance low-fouling airfoil of that set to interact with a variable pitch mechanism designed to extract optimum performance over the largest possible speed range. It has been a great success.
